Why is Tasoula known as “The Icon Hunter”?
In 1997, when Tasoula was the Cypriot Consul to the Netherlands, a controversial Dutch art dealer approached her in the hopes of selling her a number of stolen Cypriot treasures that were hidden in Austria and Germany. It was then and there that Tasoula started her journey as a protector of cultural heritage; it was the catalyst that led to The Munich Case.

The Munich Case
After establishing the controversial Dutch art dealer’s trust, Tasoula gave the go-ahead for a sting operation involving the Cypriot and German police authorities, art smugglers, and lawyers. This led to one of the largest seizures of smuggled art (5000 pieces) from all over the world. The art was found in the possession of a Mr Aydin Dikmen of Munich, hence ‘The Munich Case’.
